This Year's Classes

  • 2021-2022 Classes (Clases 2021-2022)

     

    This year I will get to learn with three groups  of students: (Este año aprenderé con tres grupos de estudiantes:)

    • Periods 1 & 2 are the same children. Period 1 is science & period 2 is math. (Los períodos 1 y 2 son los mismos hijos. El período 1 es ciencia y el período 2 es matemáticas.)

    • Period 3 is my prep period. If you wish to schedule a meeting either in person or over the phone, I am available daily at that time.  (El período 3 es mi período de preparación. Si desea programar una reunión en persona o por teléfono, estoy disponible todos los días a esa hora.)

    • Period 4 is a single class of math. These students will have a different teacher for science. (El período 4 es una clase única de matemáticas. Estos estudiantes tendrán un profesor de ciencias diferente.)

    • Periods 5 & 6 are the same children. Period 5 is math & Period 6 is science. (Los períodos 5 y 6 son los mismos hijos. El período 5 es matemáticas y el período 6 es ciencia.)

     

    Learning is an exploration. (El aprendizaje es una exploración.)

    Learning begins with a need or an interest. Your mind needs to know that there is something new to know. You can think of many examples , such as,

    • A child is playing cards with their family and wants to know the rules of the game and wants to know who won.They realize they need to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with accuracy. (El aprendizaje comienza con una necesidad o un interés. Tu mente necesita saber que hay algo nuevo que saber. Puede pensar en muchos ejemplos, como,)

    • A child is building- a small storage building, a skateboard ramp, a doghouse, a fenced enclosure for their pet. They realize that they need to know how to measure. They need to know the realtionship of shapes. They need to know geometry.

    • A child is trying to figure out when they will arrive at their relative's house- they talk about miles per hour with their parents. They need to learn the rate of travel. (Un niño está construyendo: un pequeño edificio de almacenamiento, una rampa para patinetas, una caseta para perros, un recinto vallado para su mascota. Se dan cuenta de que necesitan saber medir. Necesitan conocer la relación de las formas. Necesitan saber geometría.)

    • A child is is helping to prepare for a party. It is decided to have flower arrangements on each table. How many flowers of ewach color and type are needed? They need to know how to figure out how to arrange the flowers- they need to know ratios.

    • A child is saving money to buy a bike, later a car, and later as an adult, a house. They realize they need to know principal, interest, and tax. They need to know percentages. (Un niño está ayudando a prepararse para una fiesta. Se decide tener arreglos florales en cada mesa. ¿Cuántas flores de cada color y tipo se necesitan? Necesitan saber cómo arreglar las flores; necesitan saber las proporciones.)

    • A child learns and grows. They begin to think about what they want to do and if they can make a living. They need to know statistics. (Un niño aprende y crece. Empiezan a pensar en lo que quieren hacer y si pueden ganarse la vida. Necesitan saber estadísticas.)

    Learning begins when a child is small and continues through their lifetime.  (El aprendizaje comienza cuando un niño es pequeño y continúa durante toda su vida.)
